Wanda was a character appearing in A Game of You, one of Barbie's best friends.
History[]
Wanda apparently grew up on a farm in the mid-west, and whose parents were incapable of understanding their child's gender identity. At one point, when speaking about the past, Wanda stated that her parents told others that "Alvin" was dead, whenever anyone asked about their "son".
In her adulthood, after coming out as a transgender woman, Wanda moved to New York, where she and Barbie became roommates and close friends. When an entity named the Cuckoo preyed upon Barbie, it sent George, one of the tenants at the girls' apartment, to terrorize the other tenants in their dreams. After the witch Thessaly, another tenant, killed George, all but Barbie did not wake up from their nightmares. Thessaly took Hazel and Foxglove with her into the Dreaming to find and kill the Cuckoo, while Wanda stayed behind to keep an eye on the comatose Barbie and the decapitated living head of George.[1]
Later into the night, a storm started to develop. Wanda stepped outside to help an elderly woman she met earlier, Maisie Hill, from the storm, and the two bonded inside. However, the storm picked up, resulting from the spell Thessaly cast, and the winds burst through the room they were in as the apartment crumbled.[2] After returning from the Dreaming, Barbie and her friends learned that the storm had killed Wanda.[3]
At Wanda's funeral, Barbie found her buried under the name "Alvin Robert Caleb Mann". When left alone, she placed a "Hyperman" comic book on Wanda's casket and crossed out the name "Alvin," writing "Wanda" on the tombstone with her favorite lipstick color.[3]
Barbie later dreamt of Wanda and Death, who both waved goodbye to her.[3]
