Book II: The Shadow World is the second issue in the limited series The Books of Magic.
Summary[]
John Constantine takes Timothy Hunter to a trip to meet American wizards. They meet Madame Xanadu, the Spectre, Boston Brand, and other practitioners, all of whom share some knowledge and warn the travellers that some malign cultists are already looking for the boy. Indeed, soon random attacks start happening.
Timothy is also reunited with his owl, whom he decides to name Yo-Yo. Meanwhile, the rest of the Trenchcoat Brigade are planning an assault on the Brotherhood of the Cold Flame, believing them to be the ones behind the hunt. Book IV later reveals that they successfully took the whole organization down.
At one point, Constantine has to leave Timothy in Zatanna's care to attend some urgent business in India; she somewhat carelessly takes the boy to a Halloween party attended by black magicians, and only Constantine's return saves him from capture.
