The Fulcrum is the realm of Destruction. Formerly his domain, Destruction vacated the Fulcrum after he abandoned his duties, leaving it as a void caught in a suspended explosion.[1]
Background[]
The Fulcrum takes the form of an empty wasteland, seemingly trapped in a never-ending, destructive sandstorm accompanied by an explosion in constant state formation. Nothing is in this realm, with the only other item within being a large black sword in the middle of the explosion, the "Fulcrum Greatsword". Unlike the other realms of the Endless, the Fulcrum does not need an Endless to guide it, as shown when the Fulcrum continued to exist without its lord due to the changing nature of destruction. The realm was also stated to have been permanently sealed, as Lucien specified that only someone who is invited can enter into the realm and that was impossible as the realm was abandoned and as such, no one from within could give an invitation. The only exception to this is a being with a unique ability to "slip" into other realms regardless of the rules, such as Dora.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Destruction's realm was the only realm not portrayed in the original Sandman series, and was the first original realm to debut in The Dreaming.
