Mervyn Pumpkinhead is a dream.

History[]

Mervyn asked Lucienne if the rumors of the vortex were true, which Lucienne confirmed they were and that Dream was monitoring Rose's dreams while Matthew watched over her in the waking world. If the vortex manifested, she would do so in her dreams, which would reflect her waking life, so Lucienne and Mervyn advised Matthew to look for any signs of shock and trauma. Lastly, Mervyn instructed Matthew to inform Lucienne of his discoveries before reporting to Dream.[1]

In search of Lucienne, Mervyn came across Dream, to whom he reported some minor seismic activity and damage. Dream's palace then began to shake and crack itself, though he assured Mervyn he would find the cause of the disturbance and eliminate it.[2]

Mervyn, alongside Matthew and Lucienne, watches as Dream rebuilds his Kingdom, and later, Dream feels remorseful of the decision he made ten thousand years ago about Nada. Dream tells Mervyn and Matthew that he'll be leaving Lucienne in charge of his absence, while he ventures into Hell to release her.[3]

Upon Dream's return to his palace after venturing into Hell, he passes by Mervyn, Matthew, and Lucienne, and Lucienne follows him to another room. Soon after this, Mervyn stands by the main door where Gods of other realms stood outside and Thor demanded that Dream open it. Mervyn comments that he hates him and is then ordered by Dream to prepare the main hall where a banquet would be held.

Afterward, Mervyn prepares the lighting for Cain, Abel, and Goldie's magic show.[4]
