Mark was one of John Dee's victims from the diner in Mayhew.
History[]
In early April, 1989, Mark came to Bette's diner in Mayhew to have a few cups of coffee before his job interview with a local "big chemical works". Unfortunately for him, this was the morning when John Dee chose the diner as his headquarters, attempting to drive the world mad with his Materioptikon. Starting at 10 AM, everyone present at the diner fell under Dee's spell and became a subject of his sadistic games.
At 11 AM Mark realized he was running late and tried to run out of the diner. Because of that he became the first whose mind Dee directly influenced, forcing him to stay and order another coffee without a care in the world. Later, under Dee's psychic influence, Mark saw his dreams come true, envisioning himself as a wealthy and powerful executive director. When the victims started worshiping Dee, Mark cut off his finger to write "God" on Dee's chest, and then engaged in an orgy with the other customers.
Soon after midnight, to their horror, Dee gave his victims their minds back for a while, and after that his games became even more depraved. Mark was reduced to his animal instincts and had to fight Garry for dominance in the "pack". The challenger was defeated, and Garry ripped his neck with his teeth. Mark likely died shortly thereafter but was certainly dead by morning along with everyone else in the diner.[1]

Mark was a slender young man with reddish blond hair.
Personality[]
Mark's manner of speech was polite and rather shy. His dearest dream was certainly his career, but it's uncertain whether he was inherently ambitious or just desperate for a chance in life.

- Mark's surname is never mentioned in the comic, but his counterpart in the TV adaptation is called "Mark Brewer".
