Mad Hettie is a woman who seemed to be familiar with Dream and The Dreaming.
History[]
Before the Series[]
Before becoming "Mad Hettie," the woman formerly known as "Henrietta" lived happily in a large house with her only daughter, Cordelia. However, after her daughter's death under unknown circumstances, Henrietta irrevocably lost her mind, unable to grieve. It was then that she was approached by the Three, who offered to make her their servant: in exchange, they would grant her immortality and teach her how to use magic.
To maintain her immortality, Hettie sealed her own soul within a locket containing a photograph of her daughter, then attempted to hide it in a place even Death could not find.. Because of this, Death could never take Hettie's life ; therefore, she has been in the world of the living for over 280 years.
Warning Johanna[]
Mad Hettie stood outside the Chapel, where she warned Johanna that Morpheus had returned and that he wanted his sand pouch, but Johanna didn't believe The Sandman to be anything other than a fairy tale.[1]
Knowing Lyta Hall[]
Hettie ran into Lyta Hall and Rose Walker when they were going to dinner to celebrate their new home. Hettie warned her about her Son, and her warning turned out to be true, since someone had kidnapped Lyta's son, Daniel.
After Daniel was left for dead, Hettie appeared to Lyta, telling her that the Triple Goddess sent her, that although they could not revive their son, they could take revenge on his murderer.
Physical Appearance[]
Mad Hettie is an older woman who wears a sun hat with a flower sticking out the top, with a dark green scarf and a long green coat.

Powers and Abilities[]
- Immortality: Mad Hettie is immortal as she hid his soul from death. As long as Death cannot find her soul, Hettie lives forever. As revealed when she protected Lyta’s physical body, Mad Hettie had also made a deal with The Three to maintain her immortality. In exchange for undertaking a few tasks for them now and then, she would be granted additional lifespan on Earth.
- Magic: Mad Hettie has the knowledge of powerful magic spells.
- Magic Barrier: Hettie can create magical barriers that can repel supernatural creatures and ancient entities. Not even an Endless like Dream could break this barrier.
