"If you hurt my son, I swear I'll kill you." ― Lyta Hall

Hippolyta "Lyta" Hall is Rose Walker's friend and a young widow mourning her husband. She appears as a major character in the first season and one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Loki) of the second season.

History[]

The search for Jed[]

Lyta and Rose boarded a plan for London, as Rose was being flown out by an organization for seven days in exchange for one family history interview. Lyta slept through the flight, during which time, she dreamed of her husband. Upon their arrival in London, they learned that Rose wasn't being interviewed, rather she was set up to meet her great-grandmother Unity, who offered to fund their search for Rose's brother, sending them to Cape Kennedy, Florida, where they met with Jed's caseworker, who was prohibited by law from giving out Jed's information. So, Rose and Lyta returned to the B&B they were staying at and joined the other house guests for a night out.[1]

Dreaming with Hector[]

Lyta and Hector in bed

Lyta had another dream with Hector, in which he argued that he wasn't a dream, rather a ghost, as he never disappeared when Lyta awakened. He would instead go to work, which entailed building their dream house, which he proceeded to give Lyta a tour of. Hector even took the time to build a nursery, hopeful that Lyta would agree to stay with him in the Dreaming, but they both knew that eventually, she'd have to wake up. And just like that, she did. Lyta then visited Ms. Rubio on Rose's behalf to apologize for their last encounter. Lyta hoped that Ms. Rubio could do a follow-up visit with Jed's foster family, but unfortunately, there were protocol that she had to follow.

That night, after having sex, Hector attempted to convince Lyta to stay with him. Her being in his dream meant that something had shifted and that if she could choose to be there with him, then that meant she could choose to stay and start a family with him. Lyta kissed Hector and then she looked down and realized she was pregnant. And when Lyta woke up that morning, she was still pregnant.[2]

Lyta pregnant

Lyta revealed to Rose that she was somehow pregnant from a dream she had. Rose realized and admitted that this was her fault, explaining to Lyta that she was a Dream Vortex. Rose sought to fix this, but Lyta saw this as a second chance at a life with Hector. In fact, he asked her to come live with him in her dreams. Shortly after Rose left to get Jed, Lyta returned to the Dreaming, where she and Hector were having sex until an earthquake shook the house, but beyond the momentary quake, everything appeared as it should. Some time later, she came across Rose in the Dreaming and expressed that it had been months, but to Rose and the waking world, only hours had passed. Nevertheless, Lyta brought Rose home, where Hector awaited with Morpheus, who explained that they were damaging the Dreaming and that they had to leave, before informing Lyta that he would allow her to keep the baby for the time being, but it was conceived in the Dreaming, thus one day, he would come for it.[3]

Giving birth[]

Lyta went into labor while Rose was gone and was taken to the hospital by the other house guests. Rose arrived some time after with Jed and revealed that Morpheus intended to kill her, because if he didn't, the entire world would die. Lyta argued that if Rose had the power to destroy the world, then she had the power to end Dream. The following day, Lyta had given birth to a baby boy, before returning to Brunswick with Rose and Jed.[4]

Dream's Visit[]

Before going to Hell to face Lucifer, Dream visited Lyta's baby boy. When Lyta entered the child's room and saw Dream, she was terrified that he would take him away, but Dream told her that he wouldn't take him yet and that he had only come to see him. Lyta firmly told him that since he had seen him, he should leave. Dream left, and Lyta took her baby in her arms after he left.

Kidnapping of her son[]

Lyta, her son whom she named Daniel and Rose Walker moved into the mansion left by Unity which was ironically the old mansion that belonged to Roderick Burgess and where Dream was imprisoned for over 100 years, unbeknownst to both of them the goblin Puck infiltrated the house and took the appearance of the house butler, Lyta and Rose went out to lunch to celebrate their new residence and on the way they met Mad Hetty who warned her about her son, this made Lyta feel uncomfortable and she called the mansion but no one answered. When they returned to the mansion her greatest fear became real, her son had disappeared.

Visit of the Furies[]

The Furies visited Lyta in a dream and told her that her son would soon be burned in flames, which left Lyta confused and terrified.

The God Loki, posing as a detective, tricked Lyta by telling her that they had found the corpse of a baby with Daniel's clothes. Lyta, heartbroken, thought that her son had died.

With the help of Mad Hettie, Lyta finally made formal contact with the Furies, who offered her to become their avatar to destroy Dream's kingdom and him too. Lyta, filled with sadness, maddened with anger and having nothing left to lose, accepted the deal and became the vessel of the Furies' power.

Destroying the Dreaming[]

Lyta was taken to The Dreaming by the Furies and began to destroy the entire kingdom, starting by killing Fiddler's Green and then Mervyn Pumpkinhead. Although invited into Dream's palace after attacking Griffon, she was reunited with Daniel, but the Furies informed her that the child was no longer her son. She continued to attack The Dreaming, tearing apart the land with her sword, though Nuala, returning from Faerie, rode her down and beheaded Lyta, ceasing her attack upon The Dreaming and causing Lyta to wake up back in Hettie's room. Hettie then informed her that, because of her actions, she had condemned Daniel to become the new Dream of the Endless.

Meeting Daniel[]

Rose had invited Lyta to attend Morpheus's funeral as her guest. Though Lyta was far more concerned with seeing Daniel, she attended the funerary service regardless after being told that Daniel wouldn't be there. Lyta snuck off shortly before the end of the service to find Daniel. She found Dream in the throne room where he denied being Daniel and blamed Lyta for Morpheus's death. Lyta asked what she did to deserve what had happened to her, and he told her that she had done nothing - that it was just the way of things, but that vengeance was a poor path to have followed. He did promise that no harm would befall Lyta for her actions and that she would see him again in her dreams.

Physical Appearance[]

Lyta is a young woman with pale skin, blue eyes and long dark brown hair.

Personality[]

Lyta is a kind and modest woman who cares about her friends and family, after becoming the avatar of the Furies she becomes ruthless and vengeful with much accumulated anger for having suffered so much unjustifiably.

Powers and Abilities[]

When Lyta is consumed by grief after the loss of her son Daniel, she becomes a conduit for the Furies (or Erinyes), goddesses of primordial vengeance. As an avatar, she inherits their fearsome powers.

  • Divine Vengeance Channeling: Lyta acts as an instrument of divine vengeance, pursuing those who have committed unpunished crimes, especially familial murders or blood betrayals. She strikes with relentless justice, showing no mercy and offering no appeal.
  • Superhuman Strength and Endurance: Gifted with superhuman strength, Lyta can break through walls, lift enormous weights, and battle supernatural beings. Her physical endurance is also enhanced—she can withstand intense physical and magical attacks.
  • Reality-Warping in the Dreaming: Within the Dreaming, her power grows even greater. She can manipulate space, destroy dream constructs, and defy the very rules of the Dreaming itself.
  • Empathic Rage Amplification: Her rage and grief become weapons. The more she suffers or feels betrayed, the more her power increases. She becomes a vortex of destructive emotion, like a divine storm unleashed.
  • Connection to the Triple Goddess: As an avatar of the Furies, she is connected to an ancient form of the Triple Goddess (the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone). This grants her a mystical presence and supernatural intuition, sometimes even visions or innate knowledge of the guilt that must be punished.
