Loki is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Lyta Hall) of the second season of the Netflix series The Sandman. He is the Norse god of mischief, a callous and deceptive trickster.

History[]

Liberation and escape[]

When Lucifer abdicates the throne of Hell and hands the key to Dream, Loki arrives at a grand banquet hosted by Dream to decide who will inherit Hell. He comes accompanied by Odin and Thor, seeking to manipulate the situation to his advantage.[1]

Loki had previously been released from his punishment by Odin in order to attend this divine request. But Loki does not care about being indebted: to escape his punishment, he substitutes another god in his place through deception, but Dream is not fooled. Loki finds himself indebted to Dream for a service.[2]

Momentary freedom and brotherhood of deception[]

Loki in his freedom began to perform various pranks worldwide, he met Puck the Goblin and together they began to make chaos and disorder in the human world, both broke into the Vatican and Loki impersonated the Pope, deceived everyone by saying that now the priesthood of women would be allowed, after finishing a live television broadcast they returned to the Vatican where Dream was waiting for them.
