Hal Carter is a drag queen who has dreams of being a Broadway star but currently lives with his grandmother, whose house he's converted into a B&B.
History[]
Meeting Rose and Lyta[]
Hal welcomed Rose and Lyta as they arrived at his B&B, after having shared details about their personal lives with the other house guests. That night, after becoming acquainted with everyone, they all went out together to see Hal perform in drag at a nightclub.[1]
Searching for Jed[]
Hal and Rose searching for Jed
Hal volunteered to help Rose pass out fliers for her missing brother Jed, who was placed in the foster care system. They started in her old neighborhood after Rose learned from Jed's caseworker that he was adopted by friends of their father. They then headed to the beach, where Hal shared more of his life story with Rose. From college, he went to New York for a Broadway career, but that dream failed miserably. So when his grandmother died and left the house behind, he came home. While he missed New York, it was hard to survive. Rose and Hal then parted ways to canvas the area, during which time, he was approached by The Corinthian. Once they returned home, Rose expressed her desire to possibly move back to Florida, but Hal advised her against it. While he loved everyone who lived in the house, if he got another chance at Broadway, he would sell the house without a second thought and never think about any of them again.[2]
Collective dream
Hal and the other house guests rushed Lyta to the hospital after not only learning that she was pregnant, but that she had gone into labor as well. Upon Rose's arrival, he questioned who the father was, but Rose neglected to answer. That night, Rose brought the wall down between dreams and all the house guests shared one collective dream, in which they were eaten by a vortex. The following day, after Lyta had given birth to a healthy baby boy, Rose shared that they would be returning to Brunswick. Hal questioned how far that was from New York, because after a dream he had the night before, he was considering selling the house and moving back to pursue his dream, with Chantal and Zelda offering to buy the house.[3]
