Glory of the First Circle is a character introduced in The Sandman: Overture. He has made cameo appearances in other Sandman connected series such as The Books of Magic and Endless Nights.
History[]
Glory is a member of the Council of The First Circle. Not much is known about the council, other than they gathered very early in the history of the universe, and set the rules and boundaries for existence.
In Overture, Dream once refers to him as Shekinah; the word shekinah is a Hebrew word meaning "dwelling" or "one who dwells." Shekinah Glory means "caused to dwell," referring to the divine presence. Shekinah Glory is often seen as a visible manifestation of God on earth, the presence of Whom is seen through a natural occurrence.
