Leaving his realm[]

Destruction—aka the Prodigal—was an Endless charged with destruction. Horrified by the scale of destruction wrought by humanity (particularly through modern weaponry), he chose to abandon his role and his kingdom, to lead an existence focused on creation. He no longer wishes to wield his power or interfere in the world of humans or other Endless, retreating into peace and love of creation.

Personality[]

His personality reflects a profound quest for freedom and independence. Unlike his Endless siblings, he rejects the burden of his responsibilities and the constraints of his duty. He often appears rebellious, disillusioned by the weight of order and control imposed by his role.

This detachment gives him a melancholic and solitary aura, tinged with a certain cynicism, but also with a wisdom acquired through hindsight and experience. He seeks to live life to the fullest, embracing change rather than becoming stuck in an immutable role. His presence in the series underscores the inner conflict between duty and personal desire, and his disappearance creates a significant void in the balance of the Endless.

When he was with his family, Destruction was noted to have been the peacekeeper of his siblings. With Despair and Delirium noting that whenever any of them argued with each other, he would diffuse the tensions in the family and lighten the mood between his siblings. During his time with the Endless, Destruction was noted to be jovial, supportive and caring to all his siblings and loved them deeply, causing him to become the favorite brother of both his younger sisters, Despair and Delirium. Destruction close relationship with his siblings was shown where he would provid Delirium much emotional support during her darker periods and helped her keep herself together. As noted by Ishtar, Destruction was worried for his older brother Dream and knew how lonely he was and of how his personality tended to isolate him, worrying Destruction as he feared that Dream would never know what it was like to love and be loved by someone.

Destruction’s attachment to his family was such that even when he abandoned his realm, his duties and left his family, he never the less kept his gallery, with him admitting that he held on to it on purpose. Hinting that he still worried for his siblings and also wondered if they were alright.

Apperance[]

Destruction is a tall, muscular, quite attractive Caucasian man with blue eyes, reddish-brown hair, and a short beard.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Personification of Destruction: One of the seven Endless, inconceivably powerful beings, Destruction is both lord and personification of all destruction and creation. He has power over the action and process of destroying as well as the act of making, inventing, or producing.
  • Immortality: Destruction was ageless and virtually immortal.
  • Omnipresence: Being Destruction, he is everywhere on Earth at all times, but generally not in a form visible to humans.
  • Shapeshifting: Destruction can change his appearance and clothing.
  • Magic: Much like his siblings, Destruction has access to and can freely use extremely powerful magic. As the personification of destruction, his magic and spells revolves around it.
    • Spatial Manipulation: As shown when assisting his nephew Orpheus, Destruction was able to transport him to his older sister's realm of death by creating a portal-like explosion.
    • Warding: When Destruction left his family, he had set up several wards to insure that non of his sibblings could find him. As shown, this includes a “warning system” which alerts him when one or more of his siblings try to locate him and a automatic enchantment which kills anyone who could possibly lead them to him.

Weaknesses[]

  • Ancient Rules: Despite his great powers, Destruction, like the rest of the Endless, is bound to a complex set of rules and customs.
    • One requires him to never spill the blood of family or he is no longer protected as the personification of Destruction from other Personifications.
    • Another is that he cannot fall in love with a mortal or the mortal's downfall is assured.
    • Destruction cannot take a mortal life unless they become a active threat to himself and his realm.
    • Respect roles and domains. Each Endless embodies a specific concept and must stick to their own domain. Should Destruction leave and abandon his role, the aspect of existence supervised by him becomes more random and chaotic, disrupting the cosmic order.
