Clarice Farrell is a minor antagonist in The Sandman.
She was Jed's aunt foster parent, along with her husband Barnaby.
History[]
When Jed Walker's dad passed away, he was taken in by his aunt Clarice and his uncle Barnaby. While on the drive home, Clarice saw Jed running down the road screaming for help. When she approached, he revealed that he ran away because Barnaby threatened to lock him away in the cellar. Jed insisted that they run away together. Just as it seemed Clarice was coming around to the idea, Barnaby pulled up and ordered Jed into his trunk. Clarice attempted to intervene, but Barnaby threatened to put her in the trunk as well.[1]
Barnaby ignored Jed's calls for help from the basement. Clarice wanted to help him, but Barnaby refused to allow her to, claiming that Jed would attempt to run away again. Clarice and Barnaby became a bit concerned when Jed's foster care agent arranged to come by and check in on him. Barnaby wanted to call her back and cancel the meeting, but Clarice explained that it would cause a red flag. If Barnaby didn't want him, she suggested they give him back, but Barnaby wanted to keep the $800 a month they received for Jed. So instead, he informed Jed that Ms. Rubio was stopping by to check up on him. If he was good, Jed could sleep in his own bed, but if he misbehaved, Barnaby threatened to take him back into the cellar, wire his hands to the pipes, and break every bone in his body. Until then, he instructed Jed to clean himself up. When Ms. Rubio arrived, they put on a charade of a perfectly happy family. However, after she left, Barnaby confronted Jed after learning that he tried to slip a message in her purse. Shortly after locking Jed in the closet, the Farrells were murdered by The Corinthian before Barnaby can make plans to break every bone in Jed's body.[2]

Clarice is a Caucasian woman with pale skin, blue eyes, and short blonde hair.
Personality[]
Unlike her counterpart in the comics, Clarice is friendly towards Jed and is powerless against Barnaby.
