History[]

Origin[]

Cain and Abel are the first children of Adam and Eve. Unlike the other inhabitants of the Dreaming Realm, they are not Dream's creations.

Season 1[]

Losing Gregory[]

Cain saying goodbye to Gregory

Cain saying goodbye to Gregory

Cain and Abel received an unexpected visit from Dream and Lucienne, who had unfortunately come to absorb Gregory the Gargoyle for his power to restore the Dreaming, which Cain was adamant against, informing Dream that they'd already lost so much. However, Dream didn't come to ask them; rather, he came to ask Gregory, who agreed to be absorbed, much to Cain's frustration. With Dream and Lucienne on their way out after having absorbed Gregory, Abel wished them luck on their journey, angering Cain, who proceeded to stab his brother with a pitchfork, thus killing him.

Abel rose from his grave later that night to find an egg lying on the ground, which he took inside the house, under the impression that it was an apology from Cain, though it was actually a gift from Dream. When the egg hatched, the baby gargoyle inside revealed itself. Cain suspected that Dream was trying to buy them off, but Abel believed he was guilt-ridden over Gregory's death. Abel wanted to name the gargoyle Irving, but Cain reminded him that their names always began with a G, settling on either Goldie or Girving, angering Cain, who then killed Abel once more with a hot poker. And when Abel rose from his grave the following morning to find Goldie waiting for him, he explained that he allowed Cain to kill him because it's who they were, the first murderer and the first victim.[1]

Gossiping dream folk[]

Abel asked Lucienne if she had heard about the vortex, which she suspected was nothing more than silly hedge-gossip. Lucienne was more concerned with the consensus she was conducting, needing a complete list of all residents.

Season Two[]

Family Reunion[]

Cain is sent as an envoy to Hell to convey to Lucifer that Dream will be visiting their realm to release Nada. In the Dream Realm, Abel with Goldie, visited Dream's Palace, asking where Cain was, and moments later, Cain appeared and informed Dream that Lucifer and all of Hell's Demons wait for him there too.[2]

With various Gods visiting Dream's Palace hoping to acquire the Key to Hell from Dream, Cain, Abel, and Goldie put on a magic show for the attendees.[3]

Physical Appearance[]

Cain and Abel are both short men, with slick black hair, brown eyes, and long beards.
