Bette Munroe was a waitress at a diner.
History[]
As Bette showed John to his booth, he showed her his ruby and explained how he was going to change the world with it. Unbeknownst to Bette, John was using the ruby to alter her behavior, as well as everyone else's in the diner. After sitting Judy at the counter and gossiping to Marsh about Judy's troubles, Bette greeted Kate and Garry as they arrived at the dinner, introducing them as her proudest achievement, as she was responsible for setting them up five years prior. Realizing that she'd forgotten about John, Bette returned to take his order, during which she revealed that she was a writer, though all of her stories had happy endings. John then used his ruby to force the truth out of Bette, asking if she found him to be handsome after referring to him as such. Admittedly, she didn't, but she wanted him to like her.
After introducing Mark to Kate and Garry, Bette headed back into the kitchen, where she asked Marsh to come over to her house after work to have dinner and sleep with her, but Marsh didn't believe that was a good idea, revealing that he was actually sleeping with her 21-year-old son, Bernard. Enraged, Bette fled the kitchen and into the bathroom. When she finally exited, Judy was waiting to check on her. This resulted in the two of them engaging in sexual contact, while Kate and Mark were doing the same in a booth, resulting in a fight between Gary and Mark that ended with Gary dead. Bette realized this was John's doing, though he simply took away the lies, allowing them to do the rest. By the end, only Bette and John remained, as everyone else had killed themselves. Bette questioned how was this a better world, to which John replied that she was still seeing it with her eyes when she needed to close them and embrace the darkness. And so, she grabbed two screwdrivers and jabbed them in her eyes.[1]
Physical Appearance[]
Bette was a woman in her late thirties to mid-forties, with fair skin, blue eyes, and long brown hair.
