Anubis is part of the Egyptian Pantheon, he is also known by other names: Anpu, Inpu, Ienpw, Imeut, and is the patron of mummification and the dead on their path through the underworld.
History[]
In Season of Mists, he was the lead for the Egyptian delegation that arrived in the Dreaming to petition Morpheus for the key to Hell. The rest of his party consisted of Bast and Bes, and their slaves. He presented them to their host, " I am Anubis, lord of the dead of the Nile Delta. With me are Bast, Lady of Cats, and Bes, A household deity. We seek the grant of the Land that once was Lucifer's?"
At Dream's table, he feasted "upon human hearts - or upon the dreams of human hearts." And apparently sent Bast to treat privately with the Dream Lord, as she apparently had known him of old, though it gains them nothing, and they returned to their own lands empty-handed.
