EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has greenlit a second season of Neil Gaiman‘s The Sandman.
Deadline understands that the streamer is bringing back the comic book adaptation after various conflicting reports started to surface online.
The Sandman, which launched at the start of August, was watched for 69.5M hours in its first week, doubling this in its second to 127.5M, scoring 77.2M in its third week and getting 53.8M in its fourth.
The renewal confirmation follows an accidental leak on Wednesday by DC Comics’ official Twitter page. The since deleted tweet read, “The dream continues. [The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.”
It came after cancelation rumors started circulating on social media with Gaiman calling out a fake Twitter account.
The 10-episode series, based on Gaiman’s DC Comics series of the same name, follows Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the personification of dreams and one of the seven Endless, is captured in an occult ritual in 1916. After being held captive for 106 years, Dream (also Sturridge) escapes and sets out to restore order to his realm, the Dreaming.

Fellow Dreamers. Name's Echo.
Do pralaya and mother night related?
Any idea whether DC (or someone) is going to re-issue Annotated Sandman #2?
There is some confusion regarding Rose's home town or state. At first I've tried to investigate this on my own, and then PonyEnglish provided me with some possible explanations of the contradictions. However, Nightsilver pointed out that the resulting speculation grew too large for a "notes" section and suggested to post it here for organizational purposes. If you have any idea on how to solve this or at least work it into the wiki more naturally, please share your thoughts! Here's the data so far:
---
We can assume that Judy and Donna lived in Mayhew, New Jersey, since they frequented Bette's diner there (evidence: #6 p2, last two panels). In 24 Hours (p7 panel 2), Judy calls Rose the next morning after their fight with Donna to ask if Rose has seen Donna "today", which implies walking or driving distance between them. In Moving In (p2 panel 1), Rose confirms that she comes from New Jersey, and in Lost Hearts (p18 panel 2), she calls Judy her best friend; all of that seems to point towards Mayhew. However, on the same panel in Lost Hearts Rose thinks of Judy's death as happening "in a small-town diner", which doesn't seem to indicate familiarity with the town - although it could be argued that she just wanted to mentally separate from the event. To further complicate the matter, in Collectors (p5 panel 2) she mentions wanting to return with Jed to Boston to meet their mom. Possible explanations include: Boston being a major international airport via which Miranda could be returning from England; Miranda having lived in Boston before moving to New Jersey or sending Rose to live there.
---
So far I've put Rose's origin as just "New Jersey" everywhere, left a small note in Mayhew and a larger one on Rose's page (the one that Nightsilver thinks is excessive). Haven't properly investigated The Kindly Ones yet (but it'll likely mention Seattle where they all moved afterwards). Any thoughts on finding more evidence or better formatting this pile of data?
So I started editing this Wiki when I was 18 with so much more free time. I hadn't even started college yet and I was doing everything on my own, so it was easier to keep track of everything that I was doing.
But now I'm a (somewhat) functioning adult and this Wiki is so much more active than when I started! There are almost 500 articles here and I can hardly believe it!
I really am happy that interest has picked up and I will try to be more active so that I can help this Wiki be as factual and informative as possible! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I don't give out my Discord freely, so you may have to ask for it.
Thanks everyone!
Or at least brought in line with author Neil Gaiman's preference currently for addressing Desire with singular "they, them", rather than the impersonal "it"?
Netflix's take on The Sandman has been quite successful in the weeks after it's debut. So if it were renewed for Season 2, here's who I'd like to see as the other three members of the Endless:
Jeffery Wright as Destiny
Kristen Schaal as Delirium
Sean Harris as Destruction
Zendaya as Delight
I thought it would be best if Delight was separate from Delirium as she was the former self in the comics, thus it would make her the eighth and final members. A new key element I'd like to see is Delirium in a relationship with Destruction a bit similar to Jerry Lee Lewis's controversial marriage to his cousin Myra Gale along with the father-daughter relationship seen in Paper Moon.
I honestly can't wait to see what Gaiman has up his sleeve for the future. =-)
And do you think than the serie will become a big franchise ?
Hi everyone!
The TV show prompted me to re-read the series, and then I've stopped by here to add pages on some short one-shots by Gaiman (at least the ones I could recall): they are sometimes included in the omnibuses, so I figured this wiki should describe them too. However I'm not sure how (if at all) they should be listed in the bottom-page template, since they aren't really part of any series, and some of them were already included in the collections listed there. I'd appreciate it if someone with a better understanding of this wiki's structure took a look at this.
Thanks!
P.S. Speaking of the bottom template, shouldn't "The Time of Your Life" be listed after "The High Cost of Living", not the other way around? Given that they're chronologically connected.
Hooray!
After years of waiting, the Sandman Netflix adaptation has dropped! A few things we're doing to accommodate the massive amount of material from the series is to put the adapted characters from the show into their own articles. Since there was such a huge departure from the original source material, the Netflix adaptation is going to be treated as a separate entity.
While it's still technically the same series, we want to avoid spoilers for the comics and possibly for the show itself, so we all felt that would be a better decision to make, rather than add the information onto the comic character articles.
If anyone has any questions, please talk to me, Killer Kev or Nightsilver!
Enjoy the show!
Hi everyone! San Diego Comic Con is next week, and Fandom will be there for exclusive interviews, releases, news, and more on your favorite shows. We're looking to get some press time with cast/crew of the long-awaiting Netflix adaptation of The Sandman.
Before the series airs, we'll be taking questions from you, the wonderful, fandom to ask at Comic Con. What questions would you like to ask about the series? Anything you'd like to know more about? Drop a comment here and we'll take them to SDCC!
So, I took a hiatus from running the wikia simply because nothing much was happening, I was one of a small few who was running it and my life got hectic, so I couldn't pay attention between work and everything else that was going on.
It's wonderful to see that others picked up the broom and helped clean everything up! I'm excited to see new fans and old coming to make this the best it can be!
Thank you to everyone who updated the wikia in my absence and kept it alive. You guys are rockstars
If there's anyone who is willing and able to make a spoiler header to be placed at the top of certain articles, I definitely could use it. I know of several articles that need one. Dream's article, especially.
Thanks!
Hello all! I'm returning to the Wikia/Fandom community after an absence of ten years back from when I did Buffy and Doctor Who. And boy, has a lot changed! I'm one of the mods from the Sandman Reddit, and I have a lot of resources that can be of use here. I've spent too much time today just trying to get the Comic Book infobox to look halfway decent, but I hope to fine-tune it to an aesthetic that works for everyone. My plan for the wiki is simple: make a page for every issue, even if it's a very simple one. To do this, I've started with issue one, the flagship issue; it's nowhere near done, but I plan to work on it over the next couple of days, so I have a template for all the rest of the issues. I would love any feedback and suggestions! I'm cribbing a bit from the DC fandom insofar as looks, but I will do my best to generate our own unique text and not just copy/paste things.
Hello! I’m looking for information on the orgins of one of Sandman’s characters and I thought you may be able to help me. The only thing I know is that the appearance of this character is based on a real-life person and that person was a Christian/religious writer from 20th Century. Do you have any ideas who this character is?
Thank you!
